Dear Parents/Carers,

It is our pleasure to invite you into Leigh Academy Blackheath on Wednesday 13th September. On this date, we will be holding our ‘Meet the Tutor’ evening for our new Year 7 parents and carers from 5 pm to 6 pm. This evening will be an opportunity to meet the Sancho college leadership team and your child’s tutor. Please note, due to space this is a parent/carer meeting and unfortunately on this occasion students/children are not able to attend.

During the event, we will be providing information on the the following:

  • An introduction to Sancho College;
  • FAQ regarding Academy life;
  • Extracurricular clubs and societies;
  • Review of the ‘Home School Agreement’;
  • Distribution of student Chromebooks – including loan agreement and log in details.

It is essential that you complete the following NOS course ‘Annual Award in Online Safety for Parents of Children 11-14.’ prior to the meeting. Chromebooks will only be issued to parents/ carers who have completed the course prior to collection.

Please register for a National Online Safety (NOS) account. You can register by clicking here.

The Chromebooks are strong and robust but are not completely immune from breaking, especially whilst travelling in a student’s bag. We advise purchasing a protective sleeve to store the device whilst in transit. An example of a suitable cover can be found here.

We are unable to support personal devices on site and can only permit students to use the Chromebooks issued by the academy.

If you have any questions or you are unable to attend the ‘Meet the tutor event’ please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Head of College. You may find the following site helpful during the first few days of use at home: LAT Chromebooks in Education.

Please be reminded that there is no parking available on site and all those attending are encouraged to travel by public transport.

Yours faithfully,

Mr J Powell
Vice Principal – Head of Sancho College

Mr J Smith
Assistant Principal – Deputy Head of Sancho College
