Fawcett College End of Module 1 Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

In Fawcett, we are delighted to celebrate the purposeful, calm and resilient way in which the students in our college have started the year. We consistently see students living our values and working to better their futures.

Throughout the past 7 weeks, staff across the academy have continued to comment positively on the conduct of Fawcett students. At the time of writing, all college tutor groups have a combined total of 8179 merits. Indeed, we have a ratio of almost 3:1 merits to demerits. We would like to pass on our thanks to all across the college who worked hard to earn merits by demonstrating one or more of our values, with special appreciation going to 8A who, although not achieving the highest total in terms of merits (that title belongs to 7A with 1139 merits), obtained the best overall conduct score of 1052 over the course of just one module. That’s less than one demerit per student a month: an impressive feat indeed!

We would also like to commend our top 10 students with the best conduct scores: Erin. O; Tate. C; Rory. M; Sam. R; Jennifer. R; Vittoria. R; Eliza. A; Lucus. N; Inioluwa. O and Millie. G.
I’m also pleased to report that, at the time of writing Fawcett has the highest attendance: with the college as a whole achieving 93.3%. Well done to all who contributed to these impressive statistics by consistently displaying resilience throughout this module.

We are very proud of each and every student in Fawcett college for the way they demonstrate the values of our academy. There are particular individuals within the college whom we feel deserve special mention, and thus would like to pass on our congratulations to the following. From Ms Parker, well done to Aryaa. S in 11D for her consistent hard work, revision and, most importantly, her kindness. From Mr Cowie, Harry. O in 9D for his politeness, willingness to learn and general happy demeanour.

Special mention in this regard must also go to Nicole G-D-S, for winning the Jack Petchey Achievement Award this module. This is an award for those who have gone above and beyond to achieve – showing resilience and ambition in the face of challenge. Nicola received a certificate, as well as a £250 grant to benefit the school in a manner of their choosing.

We hope that each and every one of you has a chance to rest this half term and also to enjoy yourselves. We are fortunate enough to live in a city with a huge number of attractions, sights and exhibitions. We look forward to hearing about what you have been doing upon our return in November. Finally, we wish all of our students and their families a safe and happy half-term. The college team looks forward to greeting you in module 2, such that together we can build on what has been a fine start to the academic year.

Best wishes

Ms G. Parker and Mr J. Cowie
