Year 7 Meet the Tutor Evening – Follow-up

Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Year 7 Meet the Tutor Evening – Follow-up

Thank you to all parents/carers of Year 7 students who attended last night’s Meet the Tutor Evening. It was such a pleasure to meet so many new members of our parent community and to welcome back parents of existing LAB students. Our tutors were delighted to be able to meet you all, and we hope you enjoyed the opportunity to be able to put a face to a name.

Chromebooks
We hope that your child was pleased to receive their Chromebook last night. Should you have any queries relating to your child’s Chromebook, please contact your child’s college team using the relevant email address:

Fawcett: fawcett@leighacademyblackheath.org.uk

National Online Safety Course
Thank you all for your patience regarding the National Online Safety Course. We realise that there were some technical difficulties on the website and we appreciate the frustration this might have caused. However, ensuring that teachers, parents and students are all aware of the best ways to stay safe online is of utmost importance to us at LAB; indeed, promoting online safety is an integral part of our safeguarding procedures.

We thank you for understanding regarding the need for this course to be completed before Chromebooks are issued. If you are yet to complete the course, it is called ‘Annual Award in Online Safety for Parents of Children 11-14, we recommend doing so on a desktop computer, rather than on a phone. Once this course is completed, please send evidence of the course to the college team. They will then liaise with you about issuing your child’s Chromebook.

If you were unable to attend last night
You can find the presentation from last night’s event here. If you were unable to attend, please take the time to look through this information at your earliest convenience. Please note that the Chromebook loan agreement must be signed in person by parents before we can issue them to students. The following time slots have been allocated for parents to visit the school to sign this paperwork:

Friday 15th September: 1.30pm – 2.30pm
Monday 18th September – 10am – 12pm
Tuesday 19th September – 10 -12pm

If you are unable to come to site at the designated times above. Please email your college to arrange a separate time.

The college teams and tutors look forward to working with you throughout your child’s time at LAB.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Best Wishes,
Mrs C Joy
