Year 11 Welcome Back

An elevated view of students in a courtyard on the LAB grounds

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are delighted to be welcoming back our founding students as they embark on their final year of KS4 study.

This morning, staff met with the entire year group to deliver an assembly on the importance of the next 8 months.

We reiterated the crucial role that high attendance has in securing good GCSE results, with a 10% decline in attendance lowering students’ chances of achieving 5 strong GCSEs by 25%. This means students should be aiming for at least 97% attendance, in accordance with government guidance, in order to ensure they have the highest possible chance of achieving their potential.

We also talked through the many intervention sessions that would be running across the academy each afternoon (beginning from next Monday [12th September]). You may have already received a letter pertaining to one or more of these. However, we would welcome all of our founding students remaining behind after school: either to revise in the library or to work with their subject teachers.

Finally, we were extremely excited to launch ‘LAB16’, our ambitious Post-16 offer: details about which are now live on our website. Please click here for more information.

In the coming months, we will be hosting a number of events to further inform our founding students, parents and carers about our comprehensive Post-16 provision, and look forward to seeing you there.

In the meantime, thank you for your support in ensuring your child’s punctual attendance to both school and intervention sessions, such that they have the very best chance of achieving their academic potential.

Yours faithfully,

Dan Morrison
Deputy Principal
