Attendance and Learning

Thank you for your ongoing support regarding attendance and punctuality.  Missed learning has a negative impact on success, and we must minimise the amount of time any child spends out of school.

95% attendance is nearly 2 weeks of missed learning.

90% attendance is nearly 4 weeks of missed learning.

80% attendance is nearly 7 weeks or one module of missed learning.

All students must arrive by 8.25 am and be in class ready for learning by 8.30 am.

Bronze Award

The countdown has started to our first set of Bronze Awards, which will be awarded at the end of this module, and we are pleased to tell you that there are currently 48 students who have already met all the criteria and another 57 who are on track to receive their Bronze certificates and lapel badges. To achieve a bronze award, a student must earn 100+ merits, have at least 96% attendance, have received no more than three late marks since the start of module 1, and have fewer than 20 demerits with no supervisions, suspensions or directions off-site.

We look forward to celebrating the students who’ve met these high standards in December.

Music Mark of Recognition for Dedication & Improvement

We are proud to share that LAB has been honoured by the Royal Greenwich Music Service with the Music Mark of Recognition for Dedication & Improvement. This award celebrates our commitment to providing consistent and inclusive music opportunities for our students. From classroom learning to trips, performances and community events, music continues to be a vibrant and integral part of our culture.

Greenwich Homeless Project - The big Give Christmas Challenge 2025

As most of us prepare for Christmas, Greenwich Homeless Project is busy making sure people in our borough affected by homelessness have access to things we often take for granted…a safe place to sleep, a hearty meal, laundry, showers, companionship and advocacy to help find a home.

This week, anything you donate online between the 2nd Dec – 9th December via their BIG GIVE Christmas Challenge page will get DOUBLED by Match Funding and will make DOUBLE the DIFFERENCE!  Thank you for supporting them if you can and we will update you on how much we raised as a school in our next newsletter.

How can your donation help?

£10 gives one guest a weekly bus ticket so they can travel to our day centre

£30 provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and emergency overnight accommodation for one guest

£50 helps pay for the visit by our counsellor, helping guests mental health

£100 pays for a ‘Moving on Pack’ giving a guest crockery, bedding, towels when they move into their new home.

‘I slept solidly for 12 hours… It was beautiful. I didn’t have to wake up all the time to look around me to see if I was in danger’. Quote from a recent Emergency Night Shelter Guest.

You can find out more about the BIG GIVE on our website:  https://greenwichhomelessproject.org.uk/2025/11/13/big-give-christmas-challenge-2025/
