Principal’s Welcome

Welcome from the Principal

I am delighted to welcome you to Leigh Academy Blackheath, an 11-18 co-education academy that opened in Blackheath, in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, in September 2018.

As a brand new school we will be welcoming one-year group at a time, reaching full capacity in September 2022, when we will have 900 students in years 7-11, and 250 in our sixth form. On September 4th 2018 we welcomed our founding students through the doors of our first home, Victoria House, Shooters Hill Road, SE18 4LX.  We will be based there until the summer of 2019 when we will then move to our permanent home at Old Dover Road, Blackheath.

Leigh Academy Blackheath is part of Leigh Academies Trust (LAT), one of the most successful, medium sized, multi-academy trusts in the UK. As part of the Leigh Academies Trust family, we enjoy working in close partnership with other LAT academies, drawing on their many strengths and experience, in particular, Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy and The Halley Academy who are also part of our South East London Cluster.

At Leigh Academy Blackheath we are passionate about learning and are driven by the need to develop all of the students in our care into well-rounded, powerful citizens of the future, on both a national and global scale.

I feel very privileged to have been appointed Principal and to have the opportunity to lead what will be a unique and inspirational place of learning within my own community. Having lived in Blackheath for nearly 20 years, and raising my own family here, I am truly passionate about building a school which meets the needs of our community.

Please do join us at one of our open events in September and October where I look forward to meeting you in person and follow us on twitter or facebook for regular updates and news.
