This letter contains important details regarding intervention, revision, and key ways you can support your child at home.
Revision
Revision is a key part of academic success, helping students retain knowledge, practise exam techniques, and build confidence. Effective revision involves more than just reading through notes — the best results come from active strategies such as self-testing, using flashcards, completing past papers, and teaching topics to someone else.
Creating a structured revision timetable and breaking study into manageable chunks can also reduce stress and increase productivity. We encourage all students to begin revising early and consistently and to seek support if they are unsure how to revise effectively.
GCSE Revision Timetable
Success at GCSE requires effort and time. It is recommended that every year 10 student spends at least 1 hour a night on revision during the week and 2 hours on the weekend. This is in addition to any homework set by teachers.
If you are ambitious, consider dedicating a second hour of revision each weeknight. This timetable will allow you to focus on all your subjects, so you do not neglect any others

Expectations during the mocks
The school will follow the JCQ guidance during the examination period. These are the same rules that will apply in the final GCSE examinations. Breaking these rules will result in a sanction and may result in a paper being cancelled. Students should arrive no later than 8:25 am and have their full uniform and equipment.
Please note that any homework set during the exam period by departments should still be completed.
