Dear Parent[s] and Carer[s],

Re: Uniform

As we approach the final weeks of this academic year, we are placing a renewed focus on ensuring that all students consistently meet our high standards of dress and appearance.

All students received an assembly last week outlining the many reasons why uniform matters and how it underpins our culture of scholarship, ambition and readiness to learn.

As such, all students are expected to adhere to our uniform policy without exception. As per the guidance published on our website, students are required to wear:

  • Navy blue blazer with academy crest
  • Steel grey classic trousers or pleated skirt
  • White button-up shirt
  • Leigh Academy Blackheath college tie
  • Plain navy or grey socks
  • Black leather shoes with plain black laces (no coloured laces)

In addition, with regards to jewellery and makeup, students may wear studded earrings, but the following are not permitted:

  • Hooped earrings
  • Facial piercings
  • Nail varnish or extensions
  • Lip gloss, false eyelashes, or thick make-up

Whilst onsite, students are expected to wear their full uniform (excluding their jumper in Summer months), including their blazer, with their top button fastened and their shirt tucked in. Additionally, skirts must not be rolled up, and trousers must be worn appropriately on the waist.

Please be advised that failure to follow these expectations will result in a 90-minute SLT detention.

Finally, please note: recently a small number of students have begun wearing PE kit on days when they do not have a timetabled PE lesson. As above, any student wearing PE kit on a non-PE day will receive a 90-minute SLT detention.

We appreciate your ongoing support in maintaining high standards and helping students take pride in their appearance. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s tutor in the first instance.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. D Morrison | Deputy Principal
