Dear Parents and Carers

Re: Year 10 Mock Exam Period Monday 9th – Friday 27th June 2025

I hope this letter finds you well. Soon after the half term holidays there will be a full Year 10 mock exam period. I would like to take the opportunity to provide you with some important information regarding the arrangements and how we can work together to support our students during this key first assessment of their GCSE courses.

The Year 10 mock exams will take place from Monday 9th to Friday 27th June. These exams are a crucial part of our students’ preparation for the actual GCSE exams and will give them a valuable opportunity to experience the exam environment, assess their progress, and identify areas where they may need further revision and support. These mock exam grades may also be used in the autumn for application to 6th Form so it is important that students take them seriously.

What Can Your Child Expect During the Mock Exams

  • Timetable: A full exam timetable will be provided to students and can be accessed via the school website, it is also attached with this letter. Please ensure that your child is familiar with the timings and subjects scheduled.
  • Exam Conditions: The mock exams will be conducted under full exam conditions, including being sat in the examination hall, time limits and no access to phones or notes. Students are expected to attend in their normal Leigh Academy Blackheath uniform. These expectations will help students develop the required behaviours and routines needed for the actual exams.

Supporting Your Child During the Exam Period

  • Revision: Encourage your child to revise before the exams. A well-structured revision timetable can help ensure that they cover all areas of the curriculum. If your child needs assistance with planning or accessing revision materials, they are welcome to speak with their subject teachers and college teams.
  • Rest and Well-being: The exam period can be stressful, so it is important that students also take time to relax and rest. Ensure they are getting enough sleep and eating well to maintain their energy and focus.
  • Attendance: It is essential that students attend all their mock exams. If your child is unable to attend due to illness or any other reason, please inform the school as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
  • Approach: We encourage all students to approach these mocks seriously as they play a significant role in building confidence and preparing for their final GCSE exams. If you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring the success of our students. Together, we can help them make the most of this important phase in their education.

Yours sincerely,
Mr E Crawford | Vice Principal
