The Leigh Academy Blackheath values are at the heart of everything we do as a learning community, and through their incredible examination results, our Year 11 students have shone a spotlight for our younger students on the importance of scholarship, ambition and resilience when it comes to achieving the very best. The entire LAB community is extremely proud of the magnificent achievements of these students, both individually and as a collective, and we congratulate them on their achievements.
Over 90% of our students followed the academically rigorous EBacc pathway, with 82% of students achieving a strong pass (grade 5-9) in English literature, and 73% of students achieving a strong pass (grade 5-9) in maths. That’s 24% higher than last year’s national average for English literature (grade 5-9), and 30% higher than that for maths (grade 5-9). Students achieved an Attainment 8 score of 53.5, compared to a national average last year of 46.3.
Other notable results include over 30% of students achieving grades 7-9 in maths, biology and chemistry, with nearly 40% achieving grades 7-9 in physics and history. Additionally, in the arts, 29% and 78% of students achieved grades 7-9 in drama and music, respectively.

- Kate: 8 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s;
- Ruby: 7 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and 1 grade 7;
- William: 4 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s;
- Nina: 4 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s;
- Leon: 4 grade 9s, 1 grade 8, 3 grade 7s and 1 grade 6;
- Joe: 4 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and 2 grade 6s;
- Ophelia: 4 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 7 and 2 grade 6s; and
- Megan: 4 grade 9s, 4 grade 7s and 2 grade 6s.

“I could not be prouder of our Year 11 students today; each and every one of them should feel triumphant about what they have achieved. Their results have been well earnt. Not only do their grades equip them with what they need to progress further in their education, but being a student at LAB has provided them with a broader, more enriching learning experience, which they value so much. We are looking forward to welcoming them back to LAB16 next week to start their post 16 studies”
Recognition should also be given to the wonderful staff at LAB who have taught, supported and inspired our students to achieve their very best this summer; their relentless determination to see this cohort succeed has been inspirational.
