Year 11 Study Leave

LAB Letter Image

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you that, following the English Language paper 2 on Thursday 6th June, all year 11 students will be on study leave for the remainder of the exam period.

Following the English Language paper 2 exam, students will attend a short leavers’ assembly, followed by an opportunity for them to sign each other’s shirts, should they wish to do so, before leaving site at around 12.15pm.

Please bear in mind that students may wish to bring in a spare shirt for said signing, as they are not permitted to enter any exam in clothing that contains writing on it.

We intend for the above to be a celebratory event. However, it is important to note that should your child engage in any poor behaviour, either onsite or in the local community (on this day or subsequently), they risk their opportunity to participate in further end of year celebrations such as attendance at Prom.

Arrangements for the rest of the exam period

Please be aware that if your child has an exam in the afternoon, we will still be offering revision sessions during period 3 (from 11:20-12:25). Students should arrive at reception by 11.15am for the revision session to start promptly at 11.20am.

This means that, on those days where your child has an exam in both the morning and afternoon session, we anticipate that they will be onsite, in full school uniform, for the full school day (for example: on Monday 10th June, students have Maths in the morning and Spanish in the afternoon; on Tuesday, students have Chemistry in the morning and History in the afternoon)

Chromebook Return

Student chromebooks and chargers must be returned to the Academy on Tuesday 18th June in the allocated time slot below. If your child has an exam on this date please ensure this is returned to us by Friday 21st June.

  • Airy – 10.30 – 11.30am
  • Fawcett – 11.30 – 12.30pm
  • Sancho – 1.30 – 2.30pm

Prom

Year 11 students are invited to attend Prom on Wednesday 26th June between 7 – 10pm. Tickets cost £15 and payment can be made via Parentpay. Tickets will be exchanged for students’ chromebooks and chargers on Tuesday 18th June and will need to be presented on arrival. Please note: students will not be issued prom tickets unless they hand in their device and charger, or, in those cases where payments for broken chromebooks remain outstanding on their account.

The evening promises to be a lovely celebration for both our students and academy staff. It is important to note that only current LAB year 11 students are able to attend this event.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please feel free to email your child’s tutor in the first instance.

Yours faithfully,
Mr D Morrison | Deputy Principal
