Year 11 parents - May interventions

To support our Year 11s, we will be hosting intervention sessions throughout the half-term break (May 25th–29th). We’ll be sending out a full schedule and further details very soon!

Year 10 - work experience

Congratulations to Our Students!

We’re thrilled that most of our students have now secured their work experience placements. It’s been great to see so many of you taking this seriously and putting in the effort to make it happen. Work experience is a really valuable opportunity. You’ll get to explore careers that interest you, pick up real professional skills, build your confidence, and start making connections in the workplace. We’re excited for you and hope you get loads out of it.

Important Reminders

If you’ve got a placement sorted, the key thing right now is to chase up your employer and confirm everything is definitely going ahead. Don’t assume! Get in touch with them directly to double-check your start date, time, what to bring, and any other details you need to know. It’s much better to confirm now than to have any surprises on the day.

Get in Touch

If you’ve got questions about your placement, need a hand, or you’re someone who could offer one of our students a work experience opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line at: careers@blackheath.latrust.org.uk

Silver DofE

As stated in your most recent correspondence, there will be two Silver DofE training sessions next week. Please do ensure that if your child is taking part that they do attend both sessions as this is vital to your child’s completion of the award.

Monday 27th April – Tents

Tuesday 28th April – Navigation

Please note the final session will then be on Monday 11th May before departure for our first expedition on Wednesday 13th May.

Uniform

Thank you again for your support with ensuring students are dressed appropriately and ready to learn. We’ve noticed that some students’ skirts are too short, not all trousers are worn at the waist and designer belts with patterns are being worn. To help us maintain our uniform standards, please ensure your child follows these guidelines:

Uniform Style

  • Skirts: These must be just above the knee and must not be rolled up at the waist.
  • Trousers: These must be worn at the waist.
  • Colour: All skirts and trousers must be steel grey.
  • Please note: Students should not wear shorts underneath their skirts or trousers.

Jewellery and Appearance Please note the following:

  • Not allowed: Facial piercings, nail polish, false nails, and false eyelashes.
  • Allowed: Students may wear one pair of small stud earrings and one simple ring.

Uniform Rules If your child is not wearing the correct uniform, they will be issued a detention.

Need Help with Uniform? If you need support, we have a range of second-hand uniform items that students can borrow. We are also very happy to accept any donations of old uniforms that you no longer need. Please contact your child’s college team if you need help with this.

Exciting new Dance Club!

A brand new dance club will be starting next Wednesday 29th April and will be running to the end of the academic year. This is a great opportunity for our students who dance outside of school and want to develop their skills but also fantastic for beginners. It will be an inclusive environment suitable for everyone. It will be led by a professional dancer and practitioner from the Royal Academy of Dance! You will be able to sign up on MCAS from Monday 27th April!
