Dear Parent[s] and Carer[s],
RE: Home Academy Agreement
At Leigh Academy Blackheath, we believe strongly that a successful education is founded upon a strong partnership between school, students, and parents or carers.
We are committed to raising and maintaining high standards in work, behaviour and attitudes in order to deliver a high quality education to all students.
In return, we ask that all students, parents and carers observe the academy’s expectations, standards and routines.
Fundamental to this, is the adherence of all parties to our communication charter (below), which forms part of our home school agreement.
Grounded in one of our academy values, it asks students, parents and carers to uphold the following:
● Respect for the academy as a professional working environment, where aggression or abuse towards staff will not be tolerated;
● Respect for the academy as a purposeful and busy working environment, where it is often not possible to meet with staff without prior arrangement;
● Respect for the wellbeing of staff, by allowing at least 48 hours during the working week for a response to correspondence received;
● Respect for our shared aims to ensure a high quality education to all, in spite of any differences in opinion, whether through face-to-face communication, emailing, telephone calls or social media.
In accordance with this, we kindly ask that you read through our home school agreement carefully. We have this year updated our Behaviour for Learning policy and we ask that you please also read through and familiarise yourselves with this policy carefully. A copy of both documents can also be found attached to this email. The updated Behaviour for Learning policy comes as a result of our work with students and listening to their views last year, where they asked for greater clarity and consistency in enforcing our expectations in line with our values.
We will continue to work with your child, both in assembly and during tutor time, to ensure they understand the expectations of them in this regard. However, we would also invite you to spend time as a family reading through and discussing these expectations. Please complete this Google Form by Friday 19th September to confirm that you have read, understood and agree to support your child and the academy to be successful by adhering to our home school agreement.
If you are unable to complete the form linked above, we will provide your child with a paper copy of the home school agreement for you to sign.
On behalf of all the staff at Leigh Academy Blackheath, thank you for your support.
Yours faithfully,
Ms S Sword | Deputy Principal
