Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Year 10 Work Experience

As part of the Year 10 curriculum, we invite all students to take part in work experience towards the end of the academic year, during module 6. This is an invaluable opportunity for them to gain real-world experience, develop essential skills, and explore career options.

Work Experience Overview
During the work experience week starting the week of 29th June 2025, your child will have the opportunity to work in a professional environment. Whether it is in a field related to their career aspirations or in a new industry, this experience will help them develop important workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management.

Organisation and Expectations
While the school will support students throughout the process, it is important that your child takes an active role in organising their work experience. Students, supported by their parents/carers, will be responsible for researching potential placements, contacting employers, and arranging the details of their work experience directly. We encourage them to explore various sectors and organisations that align with their interests and future goals. Students will submit the details of their confirmed placements on Unifrog, an online platform with which they are familiar, so we can ensure that all placements meet the necessary requirements and safety regulations.

Please see instructions on the use of the placement tool here.

Parental Support
We kindly ask for your support in encouraging your child to take charge of this process. Please assist them in researching potential placements, ensuring that the company or organisation is suitable and safe, and that it aligns with their career interests. We also ask that placements be approved by the school before they are finalised.

If you have any contacts or connections in industries where your child is interested in working, we would greatly appreciate your help in securing placements. Likewise, we would love to hear from you if you are able to suggest opportunities for other students too. Please ensure that all placements comply with health and safety regulations and that employers provide appropriate supervision.

Next Steps
In the coming weeks, students will begin organising their work experience placements. We ask that they take the initiative to contact employers and arrange their placements directly. The school will
provide guidance and resources to support them in this process.

We are confident that this work experience programme will be an enriching and valuable experience for all Year 10 students. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Oliver Hughes | Careers Lead
