Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Year 10 Careers Journey

KS4 is not just about studying and preparing for GCSE exams at the end of year 11, it is also a journey of discovery for our students as they start to explore a range of pathways, develop key employability skills, and take steps towards planning their future beyond school.  This is done through the delivery of our high-quality careers education programme, and we are excited to share the opportunities available to Year 10 students this academic year. Through our careers programme, students will explore

Careers Programme in Tutor Time

Throughout the year, students will take part in a structured careers programme delivered during tutor time. These sessions, delivered via Unifrog, will help students reflect on their strengths, interests, and aspirations while developing essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and goal setting. Kicking off this journey students will learn how to write CV’s and cover letters and research placements for possible work experience. They will continue to develop their career’s toolkit through Unifrog where they will explore pathways and record skills and experiences. Finally, students will start to explore educational pathways including apprenticeships and universities.

Unifrog

Students will use Unifrog as their go-to platform for exploring careers, researching pathways, and tracking their progress throughout the year. The platform allows them to record achievements, build personal profiles, and access a wide range of tools to support their decision-making as they prepare for life beyond school. Further communication will be shared at the Year 10 Parents’ Evening to help parents and carers understand how to engage with their child’s progress on Unifrog and explore their development together.

Pathways to Your Future Day

On Tuesday 2nd December 2025, students will take part in our Pathways Day. This event is designed to broaden their understanding of the wide range of progression routes available after GCSEs. Students will engage in workshops, presentations, and activities that focus on decision-making, future planning, and employability skills. More information will be provided during the Year 10 Parent’s Evening.

Work Experience

All students will take part in a work experience placement during the week commencing 29th June 2026. This will be an invaluable opportunity for students to experience a professional working environment, gain practical insights into different industries, and further develop their employability skills.

Further details about how to organise placements and key deadlines will be shared in the coming weeks. Guidance and support will be available through Unifrog and college teams to ensure every student secures a suitable placement.
