Proposed changes to Academy Day

Dear Parent/Carers,

As I stated in our end of module five letter we are currently in the process of changing the times of our academy day following the DFE publication of their minimum expectations on the length of the school week. The expectation is that state-funded mainstream schools should deliver a school week of at least 32.5hours by September 2023.

The 32.5 hour minimum includes break and lunch times as well as teaching time and any extra-curricular activities that all pupils are expected to attend. It does not include optional before or after school provision.

LAB currently delivers a 30 hour school week and will be required to provide an additional 2.5 hours a week by September 2023. The academy day currently starts at 8.40am and ends at 3pm.

The proposed new timings for the academy day are:

If you have any questions regarding the new timings or wish to log your support, please contact us by Friday 24th June 2022.

Best Wishes,
