Module 4 Update – 18th Mar 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been delightful over the last 2 weeks to welcome our year 8 and 9 parents and carers into the academy for consultation and options evening. Cucina provided a sample lunch service for all to try, dispelling the myth that the restaurant only serves cake and pizza! Please, visit the academy website to see the full menu and explore all the available options on offer.

A group of our student government representatives held a second hand uniform sale at both events, and have raised over £200 to support families in Ukraine. This is an amazing effort and we are all really proud of them. We are looking forward to welcoming our year 7 parents and carers on Wednesday 30th March, who will also have a chance to visit the restaurant and purchase uniform items from the pop up shop.

We finish module 4 on Friday 1st April at 12.20pm. The restaurant will be serving breakfast and snacks at breaktime, but there will be no lunch served on that day. Free school meals students can collect a packed lunch from the restaurant at lunchtime or as they depart at 12.20pm.

Friday 1st April will be a non uniform day for students and staff, with a voluntary contribution of £2 payable via ParentPay. We are respectful of the increased cost of living, and the high number of charity events and campaigns which are currently promoted nationally and have therefore combined pre-planned events and moved them to one day at the end of this module. Funds raised from the non uniform day will be split between charities supporting families from Ukraine and Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Appeal. Students are invited to wear the Ukraine national colours, or red for Red Nose Day, or simply come in non uniform if they prefer.

We have been spending time over this module updating our website, we hope you find it easier to access information, and keep up to date with LAB news.

Best wishes

E Smith
