Sancho College Leadership Update – 26th November 2021

Dear Parents & Carers,

Module 2 is proceeding at an exceptionally busy pace. Thus far, we have had our year 10 parents and carers’ consultation evening, admissions banding tests for over 1000 year 6 students from across the borough, school photos and a parents and carers’ forum on our global curriculum.

Alongside this, you may also be aware that Ms Nuttall, Head of Fawcett College, is due to go on maternity leave at the start of December. Please know that, in her absence, I will be supporting Fawcett college for the remainder of the academic year.

I am delighted to announce that Mr Ritchie, our newly appointed Vice Principal, will be leading Sancho college during this interim period. Mr Ritchie has already had such a positive impact since arriving at Leigh Academy Blackheath; I know he will continue to develop the college during this time and will be brilliantly supported in this regard – as I have been – by both Ms Garcia, Assistant Principal and Deputy Head of College, and Ms Kerr, our Student Services Manager, as well as all of our tutors and Middle Leaders of course.

I have asked Mr Ritchie to close this letter by introducing himself to you all. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during these past few years. It has been an especially challenging time for all of us, but certainly one of my professional highlights has been getting to know so many of you well, and working more closely to better support your child.

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new acting Head of Sancho College. I am excited to have the opportunity to work closely with all pupils within the college to support them to reach their full potential. Over the coming weeks I will be working with staff and leaders to ensure we are developing the already excellent pastoral provision delivered by the college team.

As always, your child’s tutor is your first point of contact. But please don’t hesitate to contact me by telephone or email (jack.ritchie@leighacademyblackheath.org.uk) if needed.  I look forward to building collaborative relationships with you to help support your child to succeed.

Yours faithfully,
Mr D Morrison and Mr J Ritchie
