As you well know, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in your child spending a significant amount of the past calendar year being educated remotely.
Although we are proud of both the promptness and the quality of our remote provision at LAB, we recognise also that there is no substitute for being taught in school, and that the absence of this has inevitably resulted in gaps in our students’ understanding in some areas of the curriculum.
In order to address said gaps swiftly and effectively, we have thus reorganised the Year 9 Maths and English groups in each college. This will allow your child to remain safely in their college bubble, whilst also receiving bespoke provision in these subjects, in order to tackle those knowledge gaps our analyses has revealed.
We have also made some changes to the groupings in Spanish: to allow students to be taught in smaller groups where possible (again, whilst maintaining college bubbles), so as to allow for more targeted provision in response to knowledge gaps resulting from lockdown.
As a result of these changes, which will come into effect from Monday 26th April, we feel confident that your child will be in the best position possible to make rapid progress in their Key Stage 4 Maths, English and Spanish courses from September.
